I have a Macbook Pro, an iMac and a Macbook Air all giving these same results. What gives here? I'd chalk it up to Ookla being paid by ISPs and maybe showing inflated results, but because my Google WiFi reports similar speeds (330mbps) into the router itself, I don't know what to make of it. Using Ookla's I get 330+ mbps down reported:īut when I use Google's speed test, it shows only 4-5mbps down:įast.com gives me something around 22mbps and other random sites show approx 3-6mbps down as well. For example, 20mb images will take 30 seconds to download generally. I have a Google WiFI router (from like 2018) that is reporting 300+ mbps going into the router, but the internet on my devices feels muuuuch slower than that. But I'm having some speed issues now - it actually feels even slower than when I was using T-Mobile 5G. I recently cancelled my T-Mobile home internet because the service was much too unreliable in my area, and switched back to Spectrum. So for now, this is resolved but I'll update if anything changes. Once I removed that, speeds went back to normal! Guess it's going bad? u/RoweDent created this awesome resource on network theoryĮDIT: Obviously I realized something to test out AFTER posting this, which was to remove my mesh extender, and just use the WiFi point directly connected to the modem. u/tht1kidd_ has created a suggestion post regarding information everyone needs to provide when asking a question about their network There have been some excellent guides written in this sub, and we're always looking for more!
